Domestic Violence Forum - Informational Forum for the Hispanic Community

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP is a Federal program that provides energy assistance once a year. Maui County residents who are  eligible can qualify for one of two different programs: Gas or Electric Bill Payment Assistance - A one time energy credit deposited into the electric or gas accounts of a low income eligible household; Energy Crisis intervention - A one time financial assistance of up to $200.00 deposited into the electric or gas accounts of a low income eligible household whose electric or gas, has been or will be shut off. CORE FOUR Business Planning Course
MEO BDC’s Core Four Business Planning is a 36-hour course on how to write a business plan while providing the information you need to know to start, operate and grow your business.
 
The next classes will be day classes and are free and open to the public. The six-week series begins on Tuesday, May 8th, and continues from 9-12 noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays through June 18th. All sessions will be held at MEO's Family Center at 99 Mahalani Street in Wailuku.
 
Registration is required for the six-week series and can be done any weekday 8-4 at MEO’s Family Center.  Funding from the County of Maui Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and the Administration for Native Americans helps to make the Core Four Business Planning Classes possible.  Please call 249-2990 for more information.

Commercial Kitchen and Retail Space Available
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Residential Training Center has a 1,060 square foot licensed commercial kitchen for lease. The kitchen comes with refrigerator, walk in freezer, gas stove, mixer, convection oven, deep fryer and commercial dishwasher. In addition to the kitchen, there is a 1,840 square foot retail space that can be used as a dining area or for retail sales.

Interested operators must be willing to provide training for two MEO clients (trainees) in each twelve month period of the lease. Operators must expose the trainees to all aspects of the operation and must pay minimum wage during the training period. The Operator may be eligible for wage reimbursements of 50% of the trainee’s wages through a Federal On the Job Training (OJT) funding assistance program for a three month period. Should the operator choose to hire the trainee after the training period; the operator agrees to pay the employee a comparable industry wage.
