Statement of the Mission of MEO 

The Mission of MEO is to strengthen the community while helping people in need restore their hope, reach their potential and enrich their lives.

Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. (MEO) is a private, non-profit Community Action Agency, chartered on March 22, 1965 by federal mandate under provisions of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964.  The agency provides a comprehensive scope of services to those in need throughout Maui County and across the state of Hawai’i.  MEO annually provides services to over 18,000 people touching more than 55,000 lives throughout Maui County and the State of Hawai’i.

MEO has been “helping people...changing lives” for 46 years and is an articulate advocate for those whose voices are often not heard—the elderly, disabled, immigrants, youth, offenders and the economically disadvantaged. From transportation and early childhood education to assistance with small business development MEO works in concert with the public and private sector.
